I don’t know about everyone else but I’m just not feeling in the festive spirit, I’m just back from a week off and I put all my Christmas decorations up but it’s still not helping much. I’m missing going to the markets and going out to celebrate the Christmas season with friends and family. I’m also missing reading all of our reviewers reviews on the festive venues they would have been visiting. My favourite place from last year was visiting the Edinburgh Botanic Gardens with the rest of the Euan’s Guide team and some of our Ambassadors. I’d love to hear about your favourite venues from anytime last year, let me know in the comments down below.

Loch Insh Outdoor Centre, Kingussie

In November I really enjoyed reading Peter’s review on his stay at Loch Insh Outdoor Centre in Kingussie. He mentions that he stayed in the first week of November in one of their chalets which was adapted and all on one level. Staff were friendly and helpful, and he felt Covid confident visiting due to areas being clean and well-spaced out.

Highland Liliums, Beauly

Our Ambassador starling14 visited Highland Liliums in Beauly during the month of November and it sounds like she really enjoyed going. She says it was really easy to access, with ramps going up to the shop, entrance and covered area. There are also benches in the covered area to allow people to have a seat when wandering around.

Sharjah Art Museum, Sharjah

We had a review come all the way from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates in November on Annieb’s visit to Sharjah Art Museum. It sounds like a lovely museum to visit, she says it was well ventilated and reasonably lit. a feature on the exhibitions that she mentions within the museum is that you could download a bar code audio description of the picture. The museum is wheelchair accessible with ramps and lifts, and they found staff very helpful during their visit.

Tillybods, Wakefield

It was great to hear about sbs1138’s visit to Tillybods in Wakefield and that the staff took their recommendations on board when they suggested a ramp for the entrance. It sounds like a lovely little coffee shop and very safe with the Covid precautions they have in place.

Sondheim Theatre, London

A review that came this week made me so happy to read, it was Neilfrench’s visit to the Sondheim Theatre in London. Les Misérables had returned after lockdown and they say it was a fantastic trip to welcome the reopened theatres. Again, in this review staff are described as being extremely helpful, the part I was interested in finding out about was how do they socially distance the audience? I knew masks had to be worn throughout the show but that was it. Neilfrench mentions that seats are booked in blocks with gaps in between. Now unfortunately the theatre has closed again but I can’t wait to visit theatres again.

Please note: Since writing this we regret to report the Sondheim Theatre has had to close due to Covid restrictions.

For November our reviewer of the month is AG, it’s great to see him reviewing again after the start of the year. His review on his visit to Mannerstons Cafe & Farm Shop had great images to go alongside the information he has shared.

It’s the end of 2020 and the Euan’s Guide team have had the hard decision choosing our reviewer of the year, and I can reveal we have chosen sarahcamley. We have loved reading all of her reviews on essential shops and other venues. Thank you for sharing your experiences! It’s really important to share accessible information on anywhere you visit.
