Venue Description

The Queen's Hall. Sounds good A venue like no other in Edinburgh. The place artists love to play. A fan favourite. An independent charity. We are a Grade A-listed former Georgian church which hosts standing gigs, and seated concerts either in rows or cabaret style, with chairs around small round tables. For standing gigs our capacity is 900. For seated shows, it is around 800. Some of the seating is in the original pews. Wheelchair spaces are available, along with free companion/carer tickets. These can now be booked online if you join our Access Scheme, which is easy to do and just needs a phone call or email to our Box Office. Our programme covers rock/pop, classical, folk, jazz, comedy, spoken word and more.

Accessibility

The Queen's Hall is accessible to wheelchair users via a ramp up to the front righthand entrance, next to the Box Office. The door can be opened with a push plate. Wheelchair and free companion spaces can be booked at the end of rows in the centre stalls and in the side of the auditorium for seated shows. For 'unreserved' shows, where there is no allocated seating, wheelchair spaces may be limited due to the nature of our listed building and the show set-up. We will always try to accommodate as many as possible. Customers wanting to book access tickets can contact our Box Office by phone, 0131 668 2019 (Mon-Fri 10am-2pm) or email, BoxOffice@QueensHallEdinburgh.Org to join our Access Scheme. Tickets can then be booked online. Otherwise the Box Office can help you book your seats. The only access to the upper floor is via stairs, there is no lift. Please let the Box Office know when you buy your ticket if you are bringing a guide dog. We will try to seat you in an area that is comfortable for both you and your dog. As we no longer have a cloakroom, we may not be able to look after your furry friend for you, but do contact us in advance or ask on arrival and if we can, we will. There is an induction loop in the main auditorium. Turn your hearing aid to the T position to pick up sound directly from the stage. While we try to have the system in operation for all shows, it may need to be turned off at some events, especially when there are amplified guitars. Unfortunately we are unable to know until the day if this is going to be an issue. Please speak to an Usher if you have any problems, and we'll try our best to help you. We have sensory kits available which include ear defenders and other tools to help customers feel comfortable - ask at the Box Office or an Usher. We are happy to show people the venue in advance when it's not in use, if this would help with an access needs or anxiety at attending an event / unknown building.
