• By car, motorcycle or small commercial vehicle: The main entrance is via the north gates which is off the Wells-next-the-Sea to Hunstanton road (A149) following brown tourist signs. Please use the postcode NR23 1RH for SatNav. The gates are open every day from 25th March – 31st October 2018, 9am-5pm. The gates will be open every day 10am-4pm from 1st November – 21st December 2018. Holkham park is open to pedestrians only from 22nd December to the start of the 2019 visitor season, excluding Christmas day. • By coach: Due to height and width restrictions at the north gates, coaches must use the south gates entrance following brown tourist signs indicating ‘Holkham Hall Coaches’. The route can be picked up on the B1105 Fakenham to Wells-next-the-Sea road. The south gates are automated and entry to the park is only available using a keypad code. Coaches and unscheduled HGVs should contact Holkham estate office for further information before visiting. • Cattle grids are at all entrances to the deer park, with pedestrian gates to the side. Gates must be kept closed. There is a 20mph speed restriction through the deer park. Visitors should be aware of deer and other wildlife crossing. There are two speed calming ramps to the north of the hall close to the car and coach parking areas. • Directional signage in Holkham park is dark green with white lettering. Signage directs visitors to the main car park. • Pedestrian and cycle access is via the walk-in gates at the north, east, south and west entrances from 7am-7pm. On Tuesdays and Thursdays from September to March, due to estate management reasons, entry is often only available after 10am. Holkham is reached on foot following the Norfolk Coast Path and the National Cycle Route no.1 runs through Holkham park. Cycle hire is available from Norfolketc during the visitor season, days and times vary so it is essential to check the website before your visit. • By bus: The local bus service runs from King’s Lynn, via Holkham, to Cromer. Please refer to http://www.traveline.info/ to check the bus operator and timetable. The bus stop in Holkham Village is one mile / 1.6 km from Holkham Hall. • By train: Holkham is not easily reached by train and further transport is required; Sheringham station is 20 miles / 32.2 km away. You can catch the bus from Sheringham to Holkham. King’s Lynn is 25 miles / 40.2 km away and Norwich 35 miles / 56.3 km. King’s Lynn and Norwich have direct links to/from London.
Parking
• There is level access from the car park to the entrances of most of the visitor attractions. Although level, the routes cover ground such as gravel, tarmac, cobble stones and grassland. These paths may be uneven underfoot. • On arrival at the car park, a parking attendant will issue your parking ticket and will provide a welcome leaflet containing a map and useful information relevant to your visit. • Visitors must park in the designated car park or on the grass as directed during peak season. There is no parking allowed elsewhere in the park. • There is a parking charge for all motor vehicles of £3 per day which will be taken by the parking attendant on your arrival. • There is a level tarmac parking area for up to 6 coaches. Coaches bringing visiting groups are exempt from the daily parking charge. • There is no charge for pedestrians or cyclists. • Accessible parking bays on tarmac are located away from the main carpark, 20m from the coach parking area. There is one speed calming ramp en route. • Visitors with access requirements visiting the hall can be dropped off outside. The driver will be asked to re-park in the accessible car parking area. There are two speed calming ramps en route to the hall.
