Overview
I booked a wheelchair through the airline in advance of travel. I’m on crutches and in a leg brace after surgery. I can’t manage stairs or standing for long periods. Crew at special assistance desks were disinterested and sent me to the airline check in without checking to see if check in would be open (it wasn’t). When I returned, more indifference and several staff turning up to ask to go on their break. Finally two staff took me through to the gate - really nice guys and very efficient. Then the delays for our flight began. After more than 2 hours at the gate we were told to return to baggage claim and retrieve our baggage. My partner was with me so he wheeled me back in the chair - never did see the special assistance people again. Also - handicapped toilets have heavy doors - surprised they aren’t on a mechanism to open and shut them.
