Carsington Water offers a great accessible day out in the Derbyshire countryside with a miles of tracks and trails to be explored, lots of wildlife, a range of sports and activities, shops, an exhibition and restaurant. The site has good accessible facilities and a range of equipment which can be loaned or hired.Accessibility
The site has level access from the car park and plenty of accessible parking bays both at the visitor centre car park and our outlying car park. Access to the visitor centre is through electric doors and from here you can reach the reception shops, café and exhibition. There is a lift to the first floor where you'll find a restaurant and conference rooms. There are plenty of well-marked crossings in the car park and the area around the visitor centre and around the Stones Island trail and to the play area is well-surfaced and mostly level. Our visitor centre reception is open from 10am daily and the team can help you plan your visit or assist you on the day.

Toilets
At the visitor centre you'll find plenty of toilets including toilets for disabled visitors. All of these are accessible from 07:30 each day. In the visitor centre courtyard you'll also find a changing places toilet. This is accessed from 07:30 from the rear of the courtyard and after 10:00 it can be reached through the visitor centre. It is locked from 18:30 each day. The changing places toilet is accessed using a RADAR key and visitors will also need to bring their own straps if the hoist is required. The changing places toilet features a shower as well as a toilet and changing facilities. A RADAR key can be loaned from the visitor centre reception (open from 10:00). The Millfields car park has a toilet block which includes a disabled toilet.

All staff are trained in basic accessibility awareness and are happy to help you plan your visit or assist with help and information whilst you're on site.

Dogs including assistance dogs are welcome on site but due to the nature of the site we ask dog owners to keep pets and assistance dogs on a lead at all times.
Other assistance dog facilities
Dog water bowls are available around the visitor centre. In dry weather or if the bowls have not filled do please speak to a member of staff and we'll be happy to help.
