An amazing venue

Overview
The new lift is a great addition and getting around was easy. Light, spacious with some of the worlds best ceramics alongside great pieces of art. The artists spaces were innovative and even though a special lounge had been set up the gallery staff were happy to move anything or bring art closer. The only space with difficulty is the first floor shop and access to the balcony.
Transport & Parking
Plenty of parking available although some are liable to flooding, but you can easily find the relevent informationfor this. I only travel by car but I know that there is a good train service. Getting about the city by powerchair is difficult because of the pavements. York also has many ancient walkways so be prepared for the bumps - best when it is quiet.
Access
They have made a permanent ramp and the doors are automatic. All floors are level and the lift is easy to use.
Toilets
No real problems other than I was conscious of people going past and some noise from reception. I am hyper sensitive to noise so probably in the minority. The dryers are too noisy for me to use and I carry a microfibre towel. I would prefer paper towels and a larger loo but no real complaints.
Staff
Excellent in all areas. Knowledgable, upto speed and tuned into the problems faced by wheelchair users.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The cafe has now a large and high divide which means seeing food prior to ordering is almost impossible. Easy to get around and fairly good fare. I adore this venue, the standards are high and staff the best.
