YHA Castleton Losehill Hall is a totally refurbished Victorian gothic mansion and cobbled mews set in formal gardens and 27 acres of parkland in the heart of the Peak District National Park. There are beautiful gardens, woods and streams to explore within the grounds with one of the peak’s most popular and charming tourist villages on the doorstep. YHA Castleton is close to the spectacular Winnats Pass, Peveril Castle and Mam Tor; a great base for families and for activity breaks with superb walking, climbing, running and cycling all around. The best way to get a great view of Peveril Castle and the village of Castleton is to scramble up Cave Dale and look down on both! There are four spectacular show caverns, two castles, shops and beautiful scenery to explore in Castleton – perfect for any kind of visit.
Accessibility
The main entrance doors are wide and semi-automatic. A vibrating pillow alarm is available from reception on arrival. Our public facilities, such as lounge, kitchen etc. are all on the ground floor and have step-free access. To reach the evening dining room there is an internal ramp from reception. In the main building we have one accessible bedroom with accessible en-suite shower/WC. There are another two accessible bedrooms with accessible en-suite shower/WCs located in the West Mews which is a separate building. For more information please see our access statement.

We have an accessible WC located just off reception. There is step-free access and it is fitted with grab rails, low sink with lever tap and emergency cord. Transfer onto the toilet is left-handed.

Our hostel is set in 27 acres of parkland. The majority of the grounds are pasture land currently used for grazing and so it would not be suitable to allow a dog to be off the lead. Within the immediate vicinity of the hostel are some maintained gardens; a lawn and a large patio.
