Welcome to YHA Cambridge! Our beautiful Youth Hostel has been in the same location since 1945 and after a £1.4 million restoration in early 2014, it is now the best it has ever been. Cambridge is a great place to visit for families, lone travellers or groups. YHA Cambridge is in a prime location, only three minutes’ walk from the train station, and a perfect base to explore the historic university city. YHA Cambridge offers a wide selection of rooms, many of them en-suite, to suit the needs of all travellers. You can make the most of your stay in Cambridge by taking advantage of our staff’s recommendations, as well as discounted tickets for many attractions and activities, including the Cambridge favourite, punting (even cheaper for YHA members!). We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in this 122-bed hostel; a three-storey building located just a short walk from the station. We have three en-suite bedrooms on the ground floor. One of these rooms is accessible with an accessible bathroom. One 4-bedded accessible room with accessible en-suite. The bedroom contains a double bed with a single bunk over the top and a single bed. The ensuite bathroom has a wheel-in shower fitted with grab rails and fold down shower seat. Transfer onto the toilet and shower chair is right handed. Cambridge is called the cycle city and with good reason! Explore the city on your own or get off the beaten track with Cambridge Bike Tours. We have secure bike lockers available for guests that bring their own bikes. Finish a great day out sightseeing with dinner in our brand new café and bar, Scholars, or relax with a drink in our quiet courtyard. FREE WI-FI available in communal areas for guests!

Accessibility

We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in this 122-bed hostel; a three-storey building located just a short distance from the train station. We have three en-suite bedrooms on the ground floor. One of these rooms is accessible with an accessible bathroom. From the top of the ramp or stairs, access into the hostel is through a level threshold, with a manual, single leaf glazed door which opens outwards. Reception: The reception desk is located on the ground floor and has a lower level serving section and an induction loop. This area is open plan and includes the main dining and café bar area. This area is level, well lit with ceiling lights and has polished timber flooring throughout. There is plenty of space for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre, and there is a selection of low soft chairs with arm rests, straight back chairs without arm rests and bench seating. The reception at YHA Cambridge is open 24 hours a day should you need any assistance during your stay. Café Bar: The café bar is linked to the reception. This has a high level service desk but menus are available on tables and table service is available on request. We have a combination of soft and hard seating in this area, including benches with handles. All furniture can be moved, please ask a member of staff if you need help with this. Lounge: The lounge is on the ground floor and there is level access via the reception area. There is access via the ground floor bedroom area, where there is one shallow step up. Self-catering kitchen: The self-catering kitchen is located on the ground floor and has level access via the lounge. This room is fitted with hard flooring, three cookers with drop down doors and electric hobs, three sinks, kettles and toasters. One of the kitchen units is at a lower level. Plates and dishes are stored in high shelves but can be moved to a lower cupboard; please just ask if you would like this. Laundry & Drying Facilities: The laundry room is located on the ground floor, next to the self-catering kitchen and has level access via the lounge. This room has a washer and dryer. This is a small room with limited space for wheelchair users to manoeuvre. Bedrooms All rooms without en-suite have a washbasin. Unless otherwise stated, all bedrooms have bunk beds. Grounds & Gardens: We have an outdoor seating area which has level from the café bar area over a level door threshold. There are double leaf glazed doors opening outwards. This area is paved with patio slabs with a border of gravel, and has a range of picnic bench style seating. The cycle store is also located in the back, left-hand corner of the patio.

We have one unisex adapted WC available on the ground floor. Access is via a gently sloping ramp (1:15) from the dining areas.
