Venue Description

Woodside Library was opened in 1905 and is a Carnegie Building “B” listed. Modernised in 1970 Opening hours are Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Saturday 10-5pm Tuesday/Thursday 10-8pm Woodside library offers free Book/Magazine/DVD/Cd/Spoken Word Books for lending. Also offers 8 Pc’s which are for public use Free internet-. WiFi will be available soon. Woodside has community language books mainly Chinese and Urdu but also has Punjabi,Hindi and Arabic books to lend. Woodside also boasts a local History Collection and various events such as Doors Open Day- Recitals and workshops by the Conservatoire throughout the year. Free book reservations Fax and Photocopying also available. Woodside has various ongoing activities – Bounce & Rhyme on Tuesday mornings at 10.30 am for mothers and babies. Weekly drop in support Breastfeeding Group – Thursdays at 1.30pm Weekly “Thursday” club for children aged 5-12 Professional Storytelling once per month on a Saturday at 10.30am Councillors Surgeries

Accessibility

Woodside Library is situated on a busy road. Disabled access is at the front of the building – up a stone ramp. The bell to alert staff that someone needs access is at a height level with wheelchair users. It has a disabled toilet/Child Changing Facilities situated in the Junior Library. Due to current repair works there is no disabled access at present however, this will return to normal once the works are completed.

Awards List

Woodside Library as part of Glasgow Life Community Facilities and Libraries were successful in achieving Customer Service Excellence Award. It has also attained a Breast Feeding Awareness Award and a weekly group is held in library every Thursday afternoon

Toilets

The facility has a disabled toilet and Baby changing facilities. There is no alarm at present but this is being addressed.

Staff

Woodside Library currently has 7 staff members who work different shifts to suit the needs of the library. Staff are all very friendly and professional in their manner towards the public Some staff have been on a Disability Awareness Course.
