Venue Description

West Norwood Health and Leisure Centre is a leisure centre in the heart of West Norwood. Facilities include a gym, main pool, community room, and studio.

Activities such as gym, fitness classes, and swimming are available on a casual basis to both members and non-members. Children and adults are also able to book into our Better Swim School. There are also specific sessions for those older than 55, disabled individuals, and females.

Accessibility

The surrounding streets have dropped curbs. The street level, main entrance has double, automatic doors and interior of the building has wide walkways, clear of obstacles. A lift assists access to the first floor.

Toilets

Our accessible toilets and changing rooms are wide enough for wheelchairs, have handrails at the correct height, low level utilities, and emergency cords.

Staff

All Better staff undergo Safeguarding training and where possible, disability equality and awareness training. Many of our Fitness Instructors have undertaken additional courses and modules to further their knowledge and understanding specific to disability. Across Lambeth, swim teachers undertook a CPD course in Autism Awareness and teachers can gain more experience coaching disabled persons at our inclusive supported swimming sessions.
