Venue Description

The WDC Scottish Dolphin Centre is at the mouth of the River Spey and is a haven for wildlife including bottlenose dolphins, ospreys, grey and common seals, the occasional otter and many coastal birds. The Centre is based in an 18th Century salmon fishing station and has a fascinating history. Our passionate staff and volunteers will be on hand to tell you more and answer any questions. The interactive exhibition, shop, café and toilets are accessible to wheelchair users and those with low mobility.

Accessibility

The interactive exhibition, shop and café are accessible to wheelchair users and those with low mobility. There is no easy access to the beach, which is made up of shingle and is therefore difficult to walk on. However, there is a small hill up to a grassy area that is ideal for dolphin watching which may be a good alternative for those who cannot access the beach. The Icehouse has cobbled flooring, low beams and low lighting and can be difficult for those with low mobility. There are mats on the floor to make it more even. We would be happy to show any visitor in the Icehouse before a tour if they wanted to assess the accessibility for themselves or others in their group.

The toilet has step free access with a door wide enough for a wheelchair. It has grab handles and easy operate taps. The toilet is unisex.
