Venue Description

Watershed is a social enterprise and a registered charity. As the leading film culture and digital media centre in the South West, we advance education, skills, appreciation and understanding of the arts with a particular focus on film, media and digital technologies. Watershed develops cultural engagement, imagination and talent, in the belief that the route to better futures is open, disruptive and co-produced. With our audiences and participation at the heart of our organisation we produce and present original ideas and content and curate a diverse programme of talent development, cinema exhibition, events and festivals.

Accessibility

Watershed's entrance is on the ground floor, with a lift up to the first floor where the cinemas, cafe and events spaces can be found. There is level access across the first floor with the exception of a small raised area in the cafe bar that has two steps. There is level access to the front of all cinema screens, and platform lifts to the back of Cinema 1 and Cinema 3.

Accessible Performances

We offer regular Audio descriptive screenings, upcoming events can be found here: http://www.watershed.co.uk/whatson/calendar/ad/ We also offer regular Descriptive subtitled screenings, found here: http://www.watershed.co.uk/whatson/calendar/ds/ We host a monthly 'Deaf Conversations about Film Club' which consists of a signed introduction, descriptive subtitled screening followed by a signed discussion in the bar. Toilets

Yes, we have two accessible toilets in the venue, one is located near the cinemas for customers and also has baby changing facilities, the other in our Pervasive Media Studio for guests of the studio. The door is wide enough for all wheelchairs, there are grab rails, easy turn locks and taps.

Staff

Most front facing staff have received basic BSL training which is refreshed and developed each month. Some front facing staff have received specific access training to help them gain a deeper understanding of the various access requirements our customers might have. There will always be a member of staff present that has been trained in using the platform lifts and evacuation chair.

The nearest spaces away from the road are Queen's Square or Castle Park, however these areas are not enclosed entirely so we would suggest considering these options depending on the dog's nature.

Other assistance dog facilities

Assistance dogs are welcome in the venue and are allowed inside our cinema screens with their owners. Alongside this we can offer water bowls for dogs coming into the venue.
