Overview
An accessible garden centre - one of the biggest in Cornwall - with a sizeable restaurant looking over Carnon Downs Valley. The restaurant staff are all lovely, smiley and happy to assist with whatever they can. Dogs are well looked after by the kitchen as well as guests and the staff are more than happy to come out and say hello. With a vast range of meals, hot and cold, vegan, vegetarian and gluten free, there was no trouble finding something for everyone. Food was all delicious and I would highly recommend it to anyone - will certainly be returning.
Transport & Parking
The garden centre and restaurant is wheelchair accessible and there are a few disabled parking spaces within close proximity to the entrance and exit of the garden centre. Without driving it would be possible to get to the garden centre although it would involve walking 200m or so from the nearest bus stop so driving would be preferable if the option is available. The walk would have a small section where there is no pavement so walking on the road would be unavoidable.
Access
The rest of the garden centre can be accessed by ramps if required, the restaurant part of the garden centre is on a fairly level access. The only negative is that some non power-assisted wheelchairs could find some of the ramps quite steep without assistance.
Toilets
There is a disabled toilet with pull cord in case of emergencies tucked around the corner of the café. Sign clearly shown on the door however it seems that people prefer to use the disabled one instead of the normal ones due to cleanliness of the latter. The toilets could do with a remodel soon to stop this occurring in future, and signs throughout the garden centre indicating location of the toilets would be a benefit.
Staff
The staff in the restaurant in particular were all charming and happy to assist with anything they could from moving a chair out of the way to make room for a wheelchair, to carrying the tray over to the table. They went out of their way to make sure we had anything we needed and I was deeply grateful to them.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I would certainly recommend this place to others and will be visiting again soon. With regard to the steep ramps, a few rails could be put in place to make manoeuvring around easier for those who struggle.
