Overview
Since the pandemic there has been some changes to the public areas within the V&A so I thought I’d update the reviews. Right now the V&A is open Wednesday to Monday 10am till 5pm but during school holidays it is open more.
Transport & Parking
There are still disabled parking spaces at the side of the V&A and other car parks close by that have free council parking for blue badge holders. The train station is across the road, bus station and stops are also close by as the V&A is in the city centre of Dundee.
Access
It is level access to get into the V&A with automatic doors. The ground floor is all open planned and there is a seating area where you can have a rest or a snack, especially delicious donuts from Heathers Street Food van next. Next to this right now is an area for visitors to sit and draw, this area changes regularly but is always something free to do. The gift shop which is fairly spacious and the customer service desk is also on the ground floor. Upstairs is now a café and restaurant which is open 10am till 5pm. There’s also a reading area, event rooms, a pop up exhibit and 2 other more permanent exhibits. The Scottish Design Galleries is free to visit and is a fully permanent exhibit at the V&A, the Tartan exhibit opened at the start of April and is on until the 14th January 2024. It’s £12.73 for an adult ticket, £7.27 for a disabled persons ticket and carers get a free ticket.
Toilets
There are standard and accessible toilets on each floor of the V&A. I haven’t seen inside these ones though as I visit the Changing Places toilet that is on the basement level of the V&A. To get to here you go through the doorway to the left as you enter the V&A before you enter the main doorway, you then take the lift down a level.
Staff
All staff I encounter when I visit the V&A are very welcoming and helpful.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
There are hand sanitising stations dotted around the V&A for visitors to use.
