Overview

The recently opened 'Trinity Shopping Centre' in Leeds has been designed with lifts in place for wheelchair users which makes it possible to get to all levels, including the trinity kitchen. There are many escalators meaning the wait for a lift is never too long. There are also wheelchair ramps and manual doors in place when entering/exiting the centre. The centre has been designed well and from the shops that I have been in with a disabled person, I thought that the attitude of the staff was helpful.

Transport & Parking

Trinity centre is directly between the train station and the bus station, meaning it is very easy to access using public transport - it is about a 5 minute walk from each. There is also a carpark in Trinity, which I did not use but have heard from a friend that spaces are reserved for disabled users.

Access

The trinity centre has ramps, lifts and automatic doors in place to make access easier for disabled users. The centre could do with having more benches for people to rest on if needed. The ramps when entering and exiting the centre make it easier for disabled people to get around.

Toilets

The only thing that could be done better is having some toilets on the ground floor as well. The toilets that are available have very good disabled access, with large standard toilets or even larger disabled toilets if needed. These are on the first floor which is accessed by going in a lift.

Staff

The communication I've had with the staff in Trinity has been very positive. In Primark, the disabled person I was with was treated very respectfully and we were helped to find what he needed. The communication I have had is limited and I can't review all the shops as there is many.
