Venue Description

Treadwells is an independent bookshop in Bloomsbury, Central London, focussing on mysticism, magic, the occult, history and literature. We are friendly, open seven days a week, and we love to provide a sanctuary from the bustle of the modern world, where people can take their time to browse, at leisure, leaf through books, and even pick up gifts and magical supplies like candles and essential oils. We have a tarot reader onsite (readings in a private room) and by night and on weekends we also offer classes. Some are in store, and many are online. We're open every day of the week including Sundays, and we pride ourselves on being approachable but not intrusive. Happy to chat, but also happy to leave you to explore in peace.

Accessibility

Wheel chair: access to shop is up one step (7cm) but we've put a ramp over it, so no steps, actually. All the shop is on groundfloor and all passages are wide enough for a wheelchair (where it's a bit narrow, we simply move the tables over a bit to widen the passage. We do this regularly and it' s no bother. The tarot reading room is also wheelchair accessible -- it is on the groundfloor. Fatigue / pain: we have a large comfortable sofa and several wooden chairs. Wi fi: we have wi fi and customers are welcome to log in. We have plenty of available power points and customers are welcome to re-charge any electrical items (phones, Ipads, assistance devices etc)

Toilets

Toilets are not wheelchair accessible as our building is an historic building which can't be converted. Toilets are at basement level. Staircase down to basement level has 17 steps, on a wide staircase with sturdy railings.

Staff

We don't have special training but we are genuinely welcoming, Wee are here to make all our customers' visits good ones.
