Venue Description
TouchBase, Glasgow is Sense Scotland's purpose built centre , an exciting and welcoming community space for children, young people, adults and their families from across the country. We provide play and sensory areas, arts and music spaces and a courtyard cafe. You can access a range of creative, educational and social activities, both in TouchBase and in the community and you can do this as part of a group or one-to-one with the support of our specialist staff. In addition to offering individually tailored activities, we have provide day services for children and young people and adults with communication support needs. Whatever opportunities you’d like to get involved in, get in touch with us and we can help you build your own programme of support, based on your interests, your needs and your ambitions. TouchBase is for everyone.
Accessibility
TouchBase - a fully accessible venue; no steps to ground floor entrance; sliding door entrances controlled by staff; all doors wide enough for wheelchair access; three accessible lifts (including one platform) providing access to all areas of building; number of accessible toilets, child and adult personal care and changing facilities. Trained staff help provide a welcome and support for any visitor, whether to the courtyard, ground floor cafe, or to one of the many resources including accessible visual arts, music, drama and social activity spaces.
Accessible Performances
Sense Scotland's Performance Group and music groups have presented a number of inclusive and interactive performances and our event space can be made fully accessible for visiting performers and theatre groups.
Toilets
Several step free fully accessible toilets on ground floor, plus more on all other floors. Doors on accessible toilets wide enough for both manual and powered wheelchairs. All have grab rails and easy turn locks and taps.
Staff
STAFF Some staff have sign language while support staff have SVQ approved training or are in the process of attaining this SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare which includes training in: Effective Communication for people with communication support needs; reflective practice how to encourage greater social opportunities and participation in a range of activities; Health and Wellbeing; Health & Safety; Support for complex healthcare needs; Medication; Personal Care; risk assessments; transitions
