Overview

We are on holiday, touring Northern Ireland and this was our first day out here. We really enjoyed it, though it was very emotional at times. The whole attraction was accessible and it was lovely to spend the day learning about ship building in Belfast, the Titanic, SS Nomadic and to walk around the docks.

Transport & Parking

3

We are travelling by motorhome and there is no parking at the attraction for motorhomes, so we had to find a public car park. Fortunately, the pay and display car park on Queen's Road has some spaces with waste ground behind, so we could fit in those. It was just under £10 to park for 8 hours and only a 5 minute walk to the museum. It's a shame they don't allow motorhomes to park in their coach park though, like many other attractions do.

Access

5

The whole site, museum and everything is wheelchair accessible. There are lifts to all floors, plenty of room to move around and good surfaces throughout. There is a ride that takes you through the building of Titanic. It has one wheelchair accessible car but I didn't fancy it as I wasn't sure how suitable it would be for my assistance dog. The ride is optional and easy to bypass. Outside, there is a large area which is laid out as a deck plan of Titanic. This was accessible apart from a few potholes on the path to it. We also did the Titanic Mile walk, which was really flat and a lovely surface. Your ticket includes access to SS Nomadic. That is also mostly accessible, with a lift and ramps where needed.

Toilets

4

There are plenty of accessible toilets... at least one on each floor. However, I could have done with one about half way round the main Titanic experience. This section takes well over an hour to do and I was desperate by half way round!

Staff

5

Staff were very attentive and helped us find lifts and generally navigate the attraction. The staff in the cafe were good. Particularly pleased that the chef knew about my allergy (carotenes) and advised on food options.
