Venue Description

The Usual Place is a community cafe based in the heart of Dumfries with the mission to "provide opportunities to young people with additional support needs". We support trainees to gain an SVQ qualification in either professional cookery, hospitality services, retail skills or facilities services while gaining experience in a real work environment. We have a diverse menu suited for breakfast, lunch and light snacks and cater to a range of dietary requirements from vegan and vegetarian to gluten free.

Accessibility

The Usual Place cafe is entirely flat-floored with no stairs required to enter the building. All entrance doorways have automatic features for opening and are adapted to be wheelchair friendly. Inside, the floors are flat and smooth, particularly close to the till area. There are two disabled-access toilets at either side of the building. One of which comes in the form of an award-winning Changing Places facility which includes a hoist system, automatic toilet and changing cot.

Toilets

Widened doors, flat flooring, flat access to the building. Toilets are equipped with railings and lowered sinks and hand dryers. Accessible toilets have red cords which are ensured to touch the ground. Changing Places toilet has automatic, touchless washing and drying features.
