Venue Description
A regional powerhouse for contemporary dance, theatre and combined arts, The Point presents bold, innovative and inspirational new work, placing audiences at the heart of everything we do. We specialise in programming risk-taking contemporary performance. Our programme of professional dance, theatre, comedy, family theatre and film attracts the very best British and international artists to the region. Alongside our extensive dance class programme, we also run a dedicated Health and Well-Being programme, which includes classes in Dance for Parkinson’s and Vinyasa Yoga and is designed to promote a sense of physical, social and emotional well-being. In our Creative Learning programme we engage thousands of participants each year; teaching skills, raising aspirations and inspiring the next generation. We are proud to welcome a whole host of performances from across the community too; from dance schools and local choirs to youth and community theatre companies. Owned and managed by Eastleigh Borough Council, The Point became one of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio Organisations in April 2015.Accessibility
The Point is fully wheelchair accessible: this includes flat level access to the Box Office and all performance spaces, a lift to our conference room facilities upstairs and wheelchair accessible seating areas. We offer two different types of infra red hearing sytems for enhanced hearing: a headset for anyone who would like the sound on stage amplified and a necklace set used to amplify sound on stage for those people who already wear a hearing aid. The Point welcomes registered assistance dogs in all areas of the building. Please talk to Box Office staff about any special requirements when booking. We can also offer a large print version or audio version of our season brochure. Please contact the Box Office on 023 8065 2333 to request either.
