Overview

The Pleasance has tried hard to make the Courtyard venues accessible for wheelchair users. Finding a solution to cobbles would be good - but overall a great chance to enjoy Nish Kumar's comedy in an accessible converted portacabin!

Transport & Parking

There is no disabled parking at the venue. We were able however to drop off right outside the venue and were lucky to park on single yellow lines right opposite the main entrance. We were lucky but it could have been a lot more difficult. There is however a taxi rank right outside the entrance and it is near several bus routes with Lothian buses generally having good disabled access.

Access

We were in the Pleasance 'Beside' a temporary Edinburgh Fringe venue. There is level access through the courtyard and a ramp into the venue itself. It was quite tight to navigate into the venue but we managed and the performance space itself was roomy and there were a couple of bigger spaces suitable for wheelchair users. There are however cobbles to navigate and it can be tricky to navigate especially when wet - and it was pretty busy so there were also people to slalom around! The Pleasance provide a pdf with helpful info about the different venues at the Courtyard.

Staff

Staff fantastic! They let us into the venue first so that we were happy with where we were sitting before the rest of the audience came in. They asked several times if they could do anything to help. They didn't make us feel rushed even though they had a tight schedule to keep. There were four of us that went & our group was able to sit together too.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

If the Pleasance could make a bit of a walkway to navigate some of the trickier sections of cobbles this would be a 5* review!
