Venue Description

Housed in a splendid Gothic Revival-style building and displaying Dundee's main collection, the museum has been at the heart of art and culture in the city since its opening in 1867. The McManus annually hosts a number of special exhibitions; these often reveal rarely seen works from the museum collections or share some stunning works of art, photography, paintings or sculpture that are touring from other renowned galleries collections. The McManus runs a regular programme of activities and events, including crafty fun activities from the Creative Learning team and captivating behind the scenes tours from the Collections Unit. There is definitely something to entertain people of all ages and a trip to visit can make the perfect family day out. The McManus: Dundee's Art Gallery and Museum offers a fascinating insight into Dundee and with 8 galleries to explore, there is a wealth of information to discover in our exhibitions of art, history and the environment.

Accessibility

There is level access to both north (rear) and south (main) entrances to the building. There is full wheelchair access to all public areas of the building and a lift to all floors. Wheelchairs are available for loan from the reception area which is also fitted with an induction loop. Room thresholds have lighting to assist visitors with partial sight and there are larger text sizes and colour coding on displays. Guide dogs, hearing dogs and other recognised assistance dogs are admitted.

Accessible toilets are situated on the ground floor. Participants in learning programmes can make use of a further accessible toilet in the Creative Learning Studio on floor one.
