Venue Description

The Lodge is the gateway to Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, in the heart of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. You'll find a cafe and shop, wildlife room, exhibition space, accessible toilets and an amazing all ability trail to a gorgeous waterfall. Mobility scooters are available for hire. There is a Go Ape aerial ropeway adventure, which is fun for spectators and participants alike.

Accessibility

There is step free access via a ramp to double width (160cm first set, 130cm second set) doors at the main entrance of the Lodge. They are automatic doors, which open outwards. There is also access via 15-18 cm height steps with a handrail. The ramp also accesses a terrace with picnic tables and visitor information, to the side of the visitor centre The Waterfall Trail (all ability trail) starts immediately outside the visitor centre.

Toilets

There are 2 accessible toilets (1 male, 1 female) in the outside toilet block. Doors are 90 cm wide. Unobstructed minimum turning space of 150cm x 150cm. Door opens outwards. Emergency cord is fully functional. Toilet seat height 48 cm, toilet roll height 105cm, wash basin not above 74cm. Grab rails, spatula flush and lever taps. There is also 1 accessible toilet inside the visitor centre, about 5m from the main entrance. Door is 93 cm wide. Unobstructed minimum turning space of 150cm x 150cm. Door opens outwards. Emergency cord is fully functional. Toilet seat height 48 cm, toilet roll height 110 cm, wash basin not above 74cm. Grab rails, spatula flush and lever taps.

Staff

This visitor centre is staffed. There is a welcome desk, staffed by the Forestry and Land Scotland team, who also oversee the wildlife room. The cafe and shop are managed by a tenant business, but their staff are also there to help, especially if the FLS team are unavailable. If the welcome desk is unstaffed, there will be a sign explaining why, when they will return and where you can ask for help or advice in the meantime. Our staff receive some training in disability and diversity awareness, but we don't have any BSL interpretation.
