Langdale Leisure Limited Access Statement Introduction We are a 52 bedroom hotel situated in the Langdale Valley in the heart of the Lake District. We aim to set out our current facilities and services on offer to enable all visitors to make an informed decision as to whether we meet your particular access needs. Pre-Arrival • We have phone and email availability for pre-arrival information. • Printed, e-mailable and website versions available. Printed pre-arrival information is available in large format. • Information regarding public transport available via our website to Stagecoach and all major train services to the area. • Distance to nearest town, Ambleside 5 miles. • We offer a collection service for residential guests in the local area, Windermere and Ambleside. • We offer a delivery of provisions service for residential guests, dependant upon request. • Nearest shop mobility scheme – Kendal and South Lakes Shopmobility (Tel: 01539 740933 or Email: onevoice_kendal@hotmail.co.uk or go to http://www.westmorlandshopping.com/page/109/Shopmobility-Scheme.htm Arrival • There is a drop off/check in parking area at the main Gateway Reception for 6 cars. • There are 2 steps at the front entrance to Gateway Reception with a handrail up the steps at the front of Gateway Reception. • There is also a 104cm wide ramp at the front entrance to Reception. • There are double doors leading into Gateway Reception 160cm wide (in total). • Desks in Reception are low level at 76cm high. • From main reception there is a fully accessible unisex WC, the door width is 92cm. • There is an emergency pull cord and response provided. • Floor surface is tiled and the door is single leaf outward opening. There is a horizontal rail to the inner side of the door to aid closure if user is ambulant. • There is a grab rail and support rail. • The basin has a thermostatic mixer and lever tap. • Assistance with luggage and equipment or guidance and concierge service is available. • A portable Induction Loop is available upon request. • Registration card can be enlarged if required and guidance with completion is available if required. • Reception is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Car Parking • The main hotel car park holds 40 vehicles. • The car park at the rear of the hotel holds 13 vehicles. Langdale Hotel - Bedrooms • There is one fully accessible designated disabled bedroom on site providing specific requirements such as wide and easy to open entry door. Outer door width is 85cm. Inner door width 85cm. Wet room door width is 85cm. Bed height is 69cm. Dressing table height is 75cm. Space between the bed and the wall is 125cm. Hanging rail height is 167cm. Brimstone Hotel • Brimstone is accessed via an electronic automatic opening door at the front entrance (opens out) 82cm wide. Brimstone can also be accessed via the under-croft car park (door opens out) which is 90cm wide. • Access to the boot room is 80cm wide. • Access into the lift taking guests to both the first and second floors is 90cm wide. • From the stairs, access onto the first floor is via a door 77cm wide. • The door into the WC on the first floor is 80cm wide. • Every bedroom in brimstone is accessed via a door 90cm wide. • The fire exit door at the end of the first floor corridor is 80cm wide from which access to the outside is fire a crash bar, and the width of the door is also 77cm. • The fire exit door at the end of the second floor corridor is 80cm wide. Stove • Access to Stove is either from the main car park or the rear of the hotel. • From the main car park access to Stove is via a ramp which is 120cm wide and is well lit or via 9 steps down. The entrance door is on an automatic sensor. • From the rear car park access to Stove is via a slope and automated door with self-closer the width of which is 88cm. • Within the restaurant there are 2 steps down into the Wine Room. • There is a fully accessible unisex WC, door width is 90cm. • There is an emergency pull cord and response provided. • Floor surface is tiled and the door is single leaf outward opening. There is a horizontal rail to the inner side of the door to aid closure if user is ambulant. • There is a grab rail and support rail. • The basin has a thermostatic mixer and lever tap. Leisure and Fitness • Access to the Leisure and Fitness is from the main car park via two sets of double glass doors the width of which are 93cm. • Access to the changing room corridor, gym etc, is via a door 80cm wide. • Access to all changing rooms are via doors 80cm wide. • There is a swimming pool, spa pool, sauna, Physiotherm, steam room and gym open 7 am till 10 pm every day. The width of the door into the sauna is 68cm, Physiotherm 80cm, steam room 67cm and to the gym 100cm. All have level access. • Access to the Soft play area is via a door 65cm wide. • Access to the spa pool is via 4 steps up at an overall height of 53cm and 4 down into the spa pool with partial handrail. • The corridor leading to the changing areas is 80cm wide. The door widths into the female and male changing area are 80cm. Leisure and Fitness changing areas have level access throughout. • There is a separate changing area for disabled guests and their carers which is the specific facility adjacent to the Leisure and Fitness desk. • Access to the pool is via graduated steps. There is one grab rail. • Gym equipment includes running machines, bikes, and resistance weight machines, cross trainer, step machine, rowing machine, free weights and weight bench, Swiss Ball. • Access from Stove is via double doors 168cm wide into a tiled corridor which is 1000mm wide on a slight incline, before reaching a door 103cm wide leading to an automatic glass door 96cm wide which then opens into the Leisure and Fitness desk. Public Areas - General (Internal) • There are emergency procedures in place. • Flooring on all levels is either tiled, wooden or contract style carpet. • Lighting is variable across site. • Baby changing facilities are available in the Leisure and Fitness changing room Public Areas • There is a specific facility designed for the disabled/ambulant guest adjacent to the Leisure and Fitness Reception. The width of the door is 78cm. • It is reached via access through the tiled link corridor from Stove. • The toilet is situated on ground floor level. • The facilities are unisex. • There is an emergency pull cord and response provided. • Floor surface is tiled and the door is single leaf outward opening. There is a horizontal rail to the inner side of the door to aid closure if user is ambulant. • There is a grab rail and support rail. • The basin has a thermostatic mixer and lever tap. Stove • The lighting is diverse across site. • Tables and chairs are diverse but all are moveable, stable, some with arms, some without. • Some tables have central support and others do not. • All areas in Stove are non-smoking. • All our food and beverage outlets offer table service. Wainwrights Inn • Access onto the external patio area is via the entrance from the top car park or up a series of stone steps from the main car park at the front of the pub. • The designated disabled access is 73cm wide with ramp outside and level access internally. • Access to the WC via the corridor is 73cm wide. Male WC entrance door is 66.5cm wide and male WC is 56.5cm wide. Female WC entrance door is 66.5cm wide and female WC is 57cm wide x 3. • Access is possible via the Chapel Stile apartment entrance door which is 76.5cm wide, then through the pub door 93.5cm wide but with a 5cm step up. Laundry • Laundry service is available on request via Reception and request bags are available in hotel bedrooms and delivered back to hotel bedroom. Shop • There is a shop on site adjacent to Leisure and Fitness selling a selection of gifts and souvenirs. The entrance to the shop is open fronted. Brimstone Spa • There is a flat access to the Spa via automatic glass double door 158cm wide. • In Spa Reception there is a manicure and pedicure room the entrance to which is 80cm wide. • Treatment rooms are accessed via through double glass doors the width of which are 153cm wide. • The doors to all treatment rooms are 80cm wide. • The door to the WC on the treatment corridor is 80cm wide. • The changing rooms (male and female) are accessed via a door 80cm wide. • Access from the changing rooms (male and female) onto the pre-treatment relax area is via doors 80cm wide. • The accessible WC is accessed via a door (opening out) 87cm wide. • There is an emergency pull cord and response provided. • Floor surface is tiled and the door is single leaf outward opening. There is a horizontal rail to the inner side of the door to aid closure if user is ambulant. • There is a grab rail and support rail. • The basin has a thermostatic mixer and lever tap. • Access onto the treatment corridor is via a door which is 80cm wide. • All treatment rooms have access which is 80com wide with level entry through the doors on the ground floor of the Spa. • The height of the treatment beds is adjustable. • There are shower cubicles but there is no seating in the showers – seating can be made available on request. • There is seating available in the treatment room. • Full information regarding contra-indications will be given upon request. • Flooring is mixed, laminate, wood and tile. • Access from Spa reception into the Spa Deli is via double doors (opening in) 153cm wide. • Access to an outside terrace from the Deli is via double doors (opening in) 154cm wide. • In the Spa Deli access to the WC is via a door 80cm wide and then the WC door is 77cm wide (opening out). • From the Spa Deli access to the pre-treatment relax area and the thermal area is via a door 77cm wide. • The relax area on the pre-treatment corridor is accessed via a door 77cm wide. • Access to the thermals is via double glass doors which are 162cm wide • In the thermal areas there is access to the following experiences:- o Herbal Steam room (door opens out) via door 84cm wide o 3 experience showers which have no doors and have varying widths, 127cm, 98cm, 84cm and externally 85cm. o Lava Sauna (door opens out) 82cm wide. o Herbal sauna (door opens out) 84cm wide. o Himalayan Salt Steam (door opens out) 81cm o Laconium (door opens out) 82cm wide o Mineral Steam Bath (door opens out) 82cm wide. • There is a door to the outside area adjacent to the indoor/outdoor pool the width of which is 77cm wide. • Access to the indoor/outdoor pool is via a series of steps. • In the outside area there is a Finnish Sauna, access to which is via a door which opens out 84cm wide. Outdoor Facilities • The Hotel is situated on 35 acres of undulating woodland. • There are ornamental water features at low levels. • The speed restriction on site is 5mph across the entire site. • Low level lighting is situated across the entire site. • Torches are available on request, as is transportation around site. Conference & Meeting Rooms • There are 3 main conference rooms on ground floor level with suitable access for disabled delegates within the main hotel building. The door width to Pillar room is 70cm, Partners room 2x78cm and to Peel Room is 80cm. • Rooms are accessed via the designated disabled access to the rear of Stove. • Portable Induction Loops are available for both rooms. • Lighting is even but can be dimmed by organisers. • Please advise conference organisers in advance if any specific services are required. • There is an accessible WC available between Partners and Peel conference rooms. Additional Information • If you require any assistance at any time reception can be contacted. • We have a number of accessible aids available, such as wheelchairs, toilet frames, suction grab handles, shower stool, step for bath, bed guards, rubber mats, a hearing loop and waterproof sheets. • The Duty Manager can be contacted at any time for assistance. • There are evacuation procedures – if you feel that you may need assistance to evacuate the building then a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) can be completed. This is a bespoke plan for anyone who may not be able to reach an ultimate place of safety unaided or within a satisfactory period of time in the event of any emergency. • A member of staff will come to your room to assist with any evacuation process if the PEEP requires it. • Specific Do Not Disturb/Assistance Required door hanging notices are available. • A copy of in-house information is available in large print. • A strong reading lamp can be made available on request • There is good network coverage for Vodaphone and EE and 4G for EE.
