Join us at The Household Cavalry Museum for Disabled Access Day!

The Museum has step free access – however there is uneven flooring in the first gallery due to the original cobble stones in this historic building.

Concession admission to disabled visitors and free admission for one assisting companion.

Guide dogs welcome

11:00-11.30am – Start your visit on Horse Guards Parade and watch the free daily public spectacle of the Changing of the Queen’s Life Guard.

11.30am – 12.30 approx. – Guided tour of the Household Cavalry Museum with BSL interpretation

Two slots of 30 minute highlights tour of the Household Cavalry Museum and collection.

No booking required but limited places available on the day.

1 – 11.30am -12.00pm

2 – 12.00 - 12.30pm 

15.00-15.45pm – Object handling on Remembrance

45 minute ‘drop in’ object handling session focusing on the importance of remembrance and the First World War.

16.00pm – Household Cavalry Punishment Parade (in front courtyard Whitehall side)

Watch the free public inspection of the Household Cavalry, which happens every day at 4pm!

This dates back to 1894 when Queen Victoria found members of her favourite regiment gambling and playing cards instead of being on duty as they were supposed to.

And if that is not enough for you, running throughout the day we will have:

Dress up section – Come along and dress up as a member of the Household Cavalry. Choose between combat or ceremonial!

Learn how long it takes them to clean their kit every day to be gleaming on parade.
