Household Cavalry Museum
66 Horse Guards Avenue, Whitehall, London, SW1A 2AX, United Kingdom | 020 7930 3070 | WebsiteVenue Description
We are a regimental museum about the Household Cavalry. In our museum we have objects dating back from the formation of the cavalry in the 17th century. Our museum offers a variety of different learning mediums, including videos, interactive screens and trails for children and families. The second gallery in the museum is part of the original 18th century stables. In this gallery, visitors can try on some of the uniforms of a Cavalry soldier and see the horses through a window looking into military stables. Visitors are encouraged watch the 11 o'clock Guard Change (on days where there is Guard Change) or the 11 o'clock inspection (on days when there is no full Guard Change). Afterwards, if visitors have not finished going around the museum, they can come back in to finish it.
Accessibility
The museum is fully wheelchair accessible with a disabled toilet available for visitors. The first gallery is cobbled but the rest of the museum has smooth floors. For visually impaired visitors, the museum offers a large-print guide containing all the information displayed but in a larger, clearer font. We have an audio-guide available upon request.
Toilets
The toilets are accessible via a ramp in the gift shop.
