Venue Description
The Hive Café, Bakery & Heritage is set within the Grade II listed New Standard Works in Birmingham's iconic Jewellery Quarter. We have a Café and Bakery which serves organic breakfasts and lunches with a daily changing menu, made with local produce from our rooftop microfarm. The Heritage Centre provides a history of the building and its occupants, as well as life in the Jewellery Quarter, and our Craft Studio offers a space for workshops, meetings and events.
Accessibility
Entrance is at street level with lift access into the café and bakery. We have a range of tables at different heights for disabled visitors to sit comfortably at. We have a toilet with hoist and plenty of space for carers. In the heritage centre all of our displays are available in a variety of formats, including text, large print and print on different colour backgrounds. We also have tablets which are uploaded with audio and BSL interpreted displays for visitors to borrow. If noise sensitive, we offer noise cancelling headphones and provide tours specially for BSL users and Autism friendly tours. All floors are wheelchair friendly and we have lift access to each level of the building, including the rooftop micro farm.
Accessible Performances
We provide audio and BSL interpretation to our displays, tours can be booked which offer BSL interpretation.
