Venue Description

The D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum is the house where D.H. Lawrence was born in 1885. It has been lovingly restored to how it would have looked when he was born here. As a fine example of a Victorian miner's house, it feels as though the family could come back at any moment.

Accessibility

The Birthplace Museum has limited access for disabled visitors. As it is an authentic Victorian miner's cottage the museum has two sets of stairs and no lift, so there are some parts of the museum that some visitors would not be able to access.
