Venue Description

The Cockpit is a flexible, black box theatre space in West London, seating up to 200 people. We host a variety of theatre, music, dance, touring shows, children's show, and show cases, along with our own productions and regular events. We have a cosy foyer bar and three rehearsal studios.

Accessibility

There is level access to the foyer, bar and foyer toilets. There are six steps down from the foyer to the auditorium. Access to the auditorium is possible for wheelchair users via the car park and rear entrance. Please contact us to let us know you are coming - 0207 258 2925 / reception@thecockpit.org.uk - and try and arrive a bit early so that we can make sure you are comfortable before we let other audience members into the show. We are only allowed four wheelchair users on the premises at any one time. The auditorium has a shallow seating bank, so nowhere is very far from the stage. However, we will always give priority to anyone who needs to sit near the front to see or hear better. Please let Box Office know if you have any particular requirements and they will introduce you to the Duty Manager, who will be pleased to assist you. For classes/rehearsals/auditions: Our three rehearsal rooms are all upstairs and are currently only accessible via a large spiral staircase.

Our staff do not have specific accessibility training but we are always keen to make everyone's visit to The Cockpit and happy and comfortable experience. We will do our utmost to accommodate the specific needs of anyone using the building and often we are better able to do this if we have information in advance, so do contact us to let us know how we can help make to your visit go smoothly.

We are in a very built up area with limited open space. However, we are not far from Regents Park. We also have a gated car park where a dog could stretch their legs for a few minutes, although this would be at the discretion of the Duty Manager and dependent on car park usage on the day.

Other assistance dog facilities

We love dogs at The Cockpit and we have a few regulars who hang out in the foyer bar. Assistance dogs are also welcome in the auditorium. All dogs must remain with their owners at all times. If you need a bowl of water for your dog, please ask a member of staff who'll be happy to help.
