Venue Description

One of the most prestigious provincial theatres in the country, the Bristol Hippodrome provides a family-friendly atmosphere and offers the best in opera, ballet, concerts and of course, shows for children. Open all year long, the Hippodrome caters to everyone’s tastes and offers the world’s most exciting shows.

Accessibility

We has a designated Access Entrance which leads straight into the Stalls. There is an accessible toilet in this area. There are four wheelchair user positions plus companion seats available in the stalls and two accessible boxes that can facilitate wheelchair users. We also have seating options for those who can transfer into a theatre seat. Patrons without limited mobility but who require an essential carer with them may choose to sit anywhere in the theatre at half price. We also offer close view seating in the front stalls for patrons who are visually impaired or who lip-read.

Accessible Performances

Assisted performances - Audio Description for visually impaired patrons, Captioned and Sign Language interpreted performances for patrons who are Deaf, deafened or Hard of Hearing - are regularly scheduled for longer running shows. We have an induction loop and infra-red hearing system throughout the auditorium. Physically accessible seating, close view seating for visually impaired or patrons who lip-read are available for all performances. Relaxed performances are offered for our patrons who are on the Autism spectrum or who have communication or sensory conditions.
