Venue Description
Tate Modern is Britain's largest modern art gallery. It shows the Tate collection of 20th & 21st Century art and holds major exhibitions. Entry is free, you only pay for a ticket if you would like to see an exhibition. There is a restaurant on the top floor, cafes on levels 1 and 3 and a Members lounge on level 5. There are accessible toilets on every level of the building and a Changing Places room on level 0. British Sign Language tours, Touch Tours and Out of Hours Access Provate Views for disabled visitors are advertised on the Tate website www.tate.org.uk Guide dogs and hearing dogs welcome.

Car parking is at the eastern end of the building, from where visitors can choose to either enter via the nearby River entrance, or to have escorted entry via the staff entrance which is a shorter behind-the-scenes route. Step free access at every door to the building. Member of staff at each door position. Automatic sliding doors. If entering via main entrance please be aware of ramp into the building which is 1:12 gradient. Lifts to all levels with signage directing non disabled visitors to give priority. Galleries are all step-free with doors held open on magnets. Refuge spaces throughout the building on all levels for safety in the event of a fire alarm. Large print exhibition guides for ticketed exhibitions. Major expansion project currently underway which will provide better parking and much more internal space expected to open 2016.

Accessible Performances
Our programmes of BSL tours, touch tours and audio description tours are all temporarily on hold until the current COVID crisis passes. We will update this site when we are able to resume this service Blind visitors who would like to visit without bringing a sighted companion are encouraged to contact us ahead of their visit as we may be able to assist with welcoming and guiding inside the building. Exhibition guides are now available to download to your smartphone or tablet from our website
