Venue Description

St. James' Park is the oldest football stadium in the North East, with football having first played on the turf as early as 1880. It became the home of Newcastle United in 1892 and its development has since been one of much intrigue, debate and excitement. St James’ Park has, and always will, be a talking point of the region. The modern home of the Magpies is a towering structure that, with its white cantilever roof and dominating support beams, is visible across the city. Housing 52,404 supporters, it is the sixth largest football stadium in the United Kingdom. On matchdays the stadium it is a hive of activity as fans flock to support the team as it competes in the English Premier League. However, St. James' Park has also been used for international football, as a football venue for the 2012 Olympics, as a venue for the 2015 Rugby World Cup and as a venue for Rugby League’s Magic Weekend in 2015. It has also hosted music concerts and been used as a set for film and reality TV

Accessibility

All areas of the stadium are accessible from the Stadiums’ accessible parking spaces and any problems encountered by the gradient of approach are negated by use of a vehicle . The stadiums car park is situated directly behind the north stand and is accessed via the entrance from Barrack Rd (Sat Nav postcode is NE1 4ST.) The stadium main reception is located underneath the West (Milburn) Stand and is accessible to all (although push button access is not installed). A receptionist is available for support. Visitors should report to main reception for all events or functions on non match days.

Toilets

Accessible toilets are located in all areas where fans or members of the public are accommodated or access functions or events. Most are RADAR key operated and are alternatively sited with left and right hand transfer spaces respectively. All toilets have an alarm fitted to floor level. Within the stadium: West stand - 8 Toilets located in the corporate/public access areas (not RADAR key operated) & 8 toilets located on Level 7 viewing deck. East stand - 4 Toilets located in the concourse. North stand - 2 Toilets located in the concourse South stand - 4 Toilets located in the concourse
