Slackbrae, Brucefield Estate
Estate Office, Forestmill, FK10 3QF, United Kingdom | 01259 690013 | WebsiteVenue Description
Slackbrae is a cottage on Brucefield Estate and is tucked away in semi-ancient woodlands with a rich wildlife and historic landscape, and unique ancestry. To meet the increasing need for accessible yet remote locations to leave – utterly – the world of 9 to 5 behind, even just for the weekend, we offer exquisitely designed contemporary Scottish accommodation that is also environmentally responsible. For up to four guests plus one child and one toddler. Luxury eco-tourism with exquisite accommodation in a historic setting. Slackbrae has recently been awarded 5 stars in VisitScotland's self-catering category. We work with a variety of local caterers who can provide anything from 3-course meals to afternoon teas and picnic hampers. What do we mean by luxury eco-tourism? Stay overnight with us and you'll find exquisitely designed contemporary interiors carefully selected from a range of Scottish designers. Externally, you'll find traditional, conservation materials to blend in with our historic setting. And always a fabric-first approach with emphasizes build quality including insulation to reduce energy services such as heating.Accessibility
Accessibility guide available here: www.accessibilityguides.org/content/slackbrae-brucefield-estate All parts of the house and some parts of the garden (main terrace) are all on one level so suitable for a wide range of visitors. Our guided walking tours can take place along woodland paths or (using guest's own car to access) Sustrans cycle route NCN764. This route runs right through the middle of the estate and provides a traffic-free tarmac path to undertake guided activities such as wildlife & history tour, tree planting and in the summer season bat walks and pollinator assessments for guests to contribute to our 10 year wildlife plan. The tarmac path is good for two-wheeled vehicles of all kinds eg bicycles, balance bikes and wheelchairs and also mobility scooters.
