Overview
Have used Red Funnel for years. In the last few years they have excelled themselves with staff who are very knowledgeable and helpful. You need to tell them you are disabled (specify if you are in a wheelchair) at check in and they will ensure you are put on near the lifts and staff will ensure a path is left to and from your car. Disabled friendly once on board.
Transport & Parking
Although it is possible to go on the car ferry as a foot passenger, normally you will arrive by car. On check in to the ferry you need to tell them you are disabled and you also need to specify if you are in a wheelchair. You are directed into a special lane and asked to put your hazard lights on when you board so on board staff know you are disabled.
Access
If coming on as a foot passenger it is a flat (but steepish) ramp to the ferry entrance which is right next to the lift. If coming by car, as long as you put your hazard lights on and inform check in then you will be directed to by the lifts. Boarding staff will ensure a path is left for you to and from your car. There is a small step from the car part to the lift but there is a small ramp. Sometimes when you come back to your car you have to wait for staff to put the ramp down. Once on board it is flat throughout including the restaurant. Their are priority disabled tables with a chair missing for a wheelchair.
Toilets
There is an accessible disabled toilet. This is always clean and is completely flat entry.
Staff
Staff are incredibly friendly and will go out of their way to help. They actively look for people that need assistance and seem to genuinely want to help, rather than doing it because they are being paid to
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Personally I have found this is the best way to travel to the Isle Of Wight whether disabled or not. The ferries are far better than competitors and staff are really great.
