Venue Description

The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA) is an artist-led charity which supports artists and promotes engagement with the visual arts through a range of activities, exhibitions, and workshops. The Society owns and runs the RBSA Gallery, which is located just off St Paul’s Square within Birmingham’s historic jewellery quarter. The Gallery is a short walk from the city centre and is open seven days a week with free admission (excluding Bank Holidays and Christmas). The RBSA Gallery has a changing programme of exhibitions over three floors. These include open exhibitions, solo shows, group shows, and a ground floor craft gallery, which has established a reputation as the place to find exciting and unique contemporary craft. We want as many people as possible to enjoy the visual arts and look forward to welcoming you to our Gallery.

Accessibility

The RBSA Gallery has level entry access, a fully-accessible ground-floor toilet, lift access throughout all floors, and wheelchair access throughout the Gallery spaces. We are happy to provide large-print versions of interpretation material and staff assistance (e.g. getting craft down from shelves for visitors). We also have object handling collections that can be booked in advance of a visit so visitors can feel examples of textiles and sculpture. The Gallery has a ground floor self-service cafe area where visitors are welcome to eat their own food or can purchase hot drinks and biscuits. Due to the layout of the Gallery, there is no specific 'quiet room', but the Gallery is generally a quiet space and the busiest days tend to be Saturday and Sunday.
