Venue Description
Based in the heart of Oxford, Oxford Playhouse and its Burton Taylor Studio present and produce a wide range of live performance. The programme includes the best of British and international drama, family shows, contemporary dance and music, student and amateur shows, comedy, lectures and poetry. We also create live performance here in Oxford. The Playhouse produces and tours its own shows, hosts Artists in Residence and presents Playhouse Plays Out, an ongoing series of off-site events which happen at locations across the county. The theatre's Learning team works with over 15,000 people each year through post show discussions, workshops, work experience, holiday schemes, a youth theatre and a young people’s theatre company.
Accessibility
The main doors to OP are street level, push-open. There is level access to the bar and ticket office, and one accessible/adapted toilet on the ground floor, to the rear of the auditorium. Wheelchair spaces are available. OP has Captioned, Audio described and BSL signed performances throughout the year. The auditorium has a Sennheiser infrared system. Discounted tickets for access facility users and one companion available for most OP shows. We also hold relaxed performances. The BT Studio is upstairs, accessible by mobility stair climber. Please inform us if you require this facility.

Accessible Performances
We programme audio described performances about 3 or 4 times a season, for people with visual impairments. They are advertised on the same page as the show in the brochure. If you, or anyone in your party, would like to try or use audio description please let box office know when booking so that they can ensure there are enough headsets, that you are seated in the best area of the auditorium and so that they can inform you of any other linked facilities such as touch tours. We also programme captioned performances 3 or 4 times a season, for people with hearing impairments.
Toilets
There is an adapted toilet located on the entrance level to the Playhouse. There is a toilet with a toddler seat and a step on the first floor, through the First Floor Cafe Bar. All other toilets are situated in the basement.
