Newark Park - National Trust
Ozleworth, Wotton-under-Edge, GL12 7PZ, United Kingdom | 01453 842644 | WebsiteVenue Description
Founded by a Tudor courtier, saved by a Texan architect. From hunting lodge to home, Newark Park stands proud on top of the Cotswold escarpment. We have an incredible story to tell and we would love to share Newark Park’s story with you. From riches to ruins to rescue with a few ghosts upon the way; we have something for all interests. Newark Park is a hidden gem, isolated from modern life with spectacular views into the horizon. Unique from the standard National Trust property, Newark Park is informal, unorthodox and a home away from home. Brief History: Newark Park was originally built by Sir Nicholas Poyntz (an influential courtier to Henry VIII) in 1550 as a hunting lodge. From 1556 after Nicholas’s death the hunting lodge developed into a fashionable home and went from boom to bust. The house was then rescued by a Texan architect (Robert Parsons) in the 20th century.
Accessibility
We offer ramp access to the house and our catering pavilion has level access. The top of the gardens around Newark house (including our stunning walled garden & magnificent views) are accessible for wheelchairs. Unfortunately not all of Newark House is accessible. The ground floor is accessible for wheelchairs but the half-landing, top floor and basement are only accessible by stairs. We do offer photo albums of how the rooms look on these floors and the album also shows old pictures of Newark Park.

We provide accessible toilets on our ground floor inside Newark House.
