Our website provides more details about different ways to get here https://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/museum-of-liverpool#section--plan-your-visit - There are six blue badge parking spaces directly opposite the museum entrance, by the Great Western Railway building. You will need to pre-book an accessible space before your visit. To book a space please email MoLManager@liverpoolmuseums.org.uk giving as much notice as possible, ideally at least three days. Please provide your vehicle registration, make or model and a contact phone number when requesting a space - Outside the museum, the floor has tactile paving. There are two sets of wide automatic doors leading to the atrium where the information desk is located GENERAL FACILITIES/SERVICES - Guide dogs are welcome. If you plan to visit with an assistance animal other than an assistance dog, please get in touch seven days prior to your visit to discuss your request with us so we may best accommodate your visit where reasonably practicable - We can provide the following access services to help you enjoy your day: ear defenders, two wheelchairs, assistance dog water bowls. Please contact us ahead of your visit to ensure these are available - There are tactile and braille maps available on all floors - We have male, female and accessible toilets on the ground and second floors. There are gender-neutral and accessible toilets on the first floor within the City Soldiers and History Detectives galleries. There are currently no stoma shelves available within our toilet facilities - The baby changing facilities are located next to the information desk. There is a braille label on the right-hand side of the door. This facility includes a fixed height baby changing unit and sink, a seat and a Dyson blade hand dryer. There are also baby changing facilities in the accessible toilet on the second floor - The Changing Places facilities are located within the ground floor atrium. To gain access to the changing facilities you will need a RADAR key, it is advised to bring your own but there is one available at the information desk. You will need your own hoist sling to use this facility. Do contact staff for further information about the hoist. Please note that the sink in this facility is at a fixed height - Lockers are located on the ground floor and can be hired for £2 plus a £3 refundable deposit when you empty your locker and return the wristband. You can hire a locker wristband from the staff at the information desk. There are several lockers available at a variety of heights and sizes. The largest lockers should fit a buggy inside KEY FACILITIES ON GROUND FLOOR - Information desk - Baby changing facilities - Changing Places toilet - Male and female toilets - Accessible toilets - Café - Shop There is a large pale spiral on the dark grey floor where there may be live performances. There is signage provided at the information desk about any planned performances, or you can ask staff for details about scheduled live shows KEY FACILITIES ON FIRST FLOOR - Gender-neutral toilet - Accessible toilets - Prayer room MOVING AROUND THE MUSEUM - In terms of getting to the first floor, the stairs are located opposite the information desk on the ground floor. There are 36 steps from the ground floor to the first floor. Every 12 steps there is a landing area - There are approximately 48 steps between the first and second floors, with landing places in between - There are two metal lifts available which include: tactile push button for requesting the lift, inside lift buttons which are tactile and include braille, space for one electrically powered wheelchair and one other person, mirrored back wall, black flooring, single grab rail - The ground floor lift landing area is located behind the wall on the left near the entrance to the exhibition space. The first floor lift landing area is next to History Detectives gallery. The second floor lift landing area is within the Skylight gallery, near the entrance to the Wondrous Place gallery FIRE ALARMS If the fire alarm sounds please follow staff instructions and ask for assistance if required. Fire alarm tests are planned, if unexpected loud noises are a concern to you please call the museum in advance to check when the next test will take place
