The Marine Hotel has been a fixture in Troon for decades. It has recently been taken over by new owners and undergone a period of interior refurbishment. This view is of the main entrance which is to the rear of the building. There is a disabled parking space directly outside the main entrance. Unfortunately the accessible entrance is to the opposite side of the building via the leisure entrance which you can see from the road.

Unfortunately the accessible entrance is to the opposite side of the building via the leisure entrance which you can see from the road.

Unfortunately the bell didn't work causing a lengthy wait for me to get assistance. Also there is no sign directing you to the accessible entrance.

This is the first ramp, there is a second ramp which you can't see and you need to go up it as well.

The view from the sofa where I was sat, which was pretty much in the centre of the bar. To the right you have the waiters desk and further ahead in the picture the room leads on to a pool table area. The room is well lit, without the lights being so bright that you need to wear your sunglasses. Plenty of room to get around in my wheelchair without people having to move furniture out of my way.

Even the carpet was comfortable enough for a normally sofa-surfing assistance dog to make himself at home.

Excellent value for money, with several cups in the pot, and the cake was generously cut.

The hotel has tried hard to replicate the extras that are provided in the main toilet. It was lovely to see an accessible toilet have these extras which made me feel valued and important to the hotel. Unfortunately, the table and basket take up valuable wheelchair-turning space and larger NHS size wheelchairs, power chairs and scooters will not be able to turn around and will have to reverse out of the toilet.

Sink is at wheelchair height

Grab rails on both sides of the toilet and floor reaching emergency pull cord in place. There is also a bagged bin for any soiled items. Plenty of loo roll but some people might struggle to reach it. The toilet was very clean and fresh in appearance.

The Seal Bar has a variety of seating groups and decorations which some people might find too distracting.
