Venue Description
The Moray Firth is a haven for wildlife and at Macduff Marine Aquarium you will come face to face with all kinds of sea creatures that live beneath the steely blue Moray Firth waters. The aquarium’s exhibits lead you from the coast, where you can explore the estuaries and the rocky shores, to the underwater world of the kelp reef and beyond. See the unique kelp reef exhibit - the only one of its kind in the UK. At the sea lab, see hardy seashore critters up close and observe baby sharks in the shark hatchery, before heading out to the deep reef and the seafloor. Grab a fish finder leaflet at reception and see if you can spot all the different animals as you explore the aquarium. The gift shop is a treasure trove of gifts to suit everyone – from kids’ pocket money toys to sea-themed souvenirs. Ice creams and cold drinks are sold here too. Owned and operated by Live Life Aberdeenshire, part of Aberdeenshire Council, Macduff Marine Aquarium aims to promote awareness, enjoyment and stewardship of the Moray Firth marine environment in an entertaining and educational way.
