Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre and Wildlife Reserve

Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre and Wildlife Reserve, Dunkeld, PH8 0HH, United Kingdom | 01350 727337 | Website

Venue Description

Just 1.6 miles outside of Dunkeld sits Loch of the Lowes Nature Reserve. Our reserve covers 130 hectares including our loch, woodland, our visitor centre and bird hides. All year round the visitor centre is host to red squirrels, greater crested grebes, fallow deer, greater spotted woodpeckers, swans and mallards. In autumn and winter, the reserve is home to Canada and greylag geese, as well as wigeon, tufted, golden eye and mallard ducks, grey heron and much more. During the spring and summer months the ospreys return to their nest just 150m away from the hides. The loch also hosts breeding swallows and goosander, as well as garden birds in the woodland and three species of bat. Our visitor centre has indoor facilities with hot drinks and snacks, as well as our shop and woodland viewing station. Our bird hides consist of multiple wooden structures offering unrivaled views of the loch and our ospreys.

Accessibility

We have a fully accessible visitor centre and hides. Our car park has parking available right outside the visitor centre, as well as ramps and flat pathways through the visitor centre and into our bird hides. Two of the three hides are ground level and accessible on our walkway, and we have a third hide which is up a set of stairs. Our toilet facilities are also all fully accessible.
