Overview
This was the first time I had been to Leuchie, and I must admit to being a little nervous as I thought what kind of institution can it be that looks after people with muscular dystrophy, motor neurone disease or Parkinson’s (like me). But it’s a beautiful house, with very grand rooms and woods all around and not in the least institutional. A maximum of 14 people can stay there and the main thing is the extraordinary staff to resident ratio, how there is always someone on hand to help and how kind the staff are. Furthermore there seems to be such an amazing esprit de corps and the staff all get on like a family. There is always something to do if you want to, or it is perfectly okay to do nothing. And the food is very good.
Transport & Parking
I got there by taxi from North Berwick.
Access
It is excellent- most people are in wheelchairs. There are two lifts. But remember that it is a centre for respite not a hotel.
Toilets
All are accessible
Staff
Fantastic l
