All aspects of my stay very enjoyable

Overview
I stayed at Leuchie House, quite recently, somewhat apprehensive about doing so. By the end of my 11 day stay, I wondered why I had felt this way. I found all aspects of my stay very enjoyable, from the room allocated to me, the staff and volunteers, food, building and grounds as well as all the activities I took part in. Mealtimes at Leuchie house were really good, with menu choices being done prior to the meal. No doubt this helps with preparation of meals. I think of myself as a bit of a fussy eater but during my stay at Leuchie I always found something that I enjoyed to eat. I took part with many activities – from Candle making, to using a powered all terrain wheelchair in the grounds. I also thoroughly enjoyed using a walker which allowed me to walk upright for the first time in years. I shall try and get one to use. During my stay I also tried out the jacuzzi bath which was very good to do so. Other things did during my stay were Candle Making, Walks outside (on my own or with one of the Physios), A trip to North Berwick Beach, where I used a motorised beach wheelchair, accompanied by a friendly person from Leuchie House. I also had a very enjoyable trip to the Falkirk Wheel. Lots to keep us residents busy and make a stay at Leuchie even better. There was also a quiz that I took part in, evening entertainment by a magician and a singer on other nights as well as a film night. As well as the friendly staff, I also got on well with the other residents also. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Leuchie House and shall look forward to hopfully returning in the future.

Access
The room I was allocated was very spacious and equipped with a large TV and lamp that could be voice controlled, using ‘Alexa’ Unfortunately I had a mishap with the curtains one evening and afterwards asked the staff to shut them when he took my wheelchair away to get charged at bedtime. There was a lift between floors that accommodated all sizes of wheelchairs.

Staff
The Physiotherapy team were very good with me. As well as using the walker, they also had me peddling on a piece of equipment which either operated on its own or linked to a TV screen with lots of scenes to view. The staff and volunteers were very good with the residents, whether it was at mealtimes or other times of the day.
