Venue Description

The Howgate Shopping Centre is a community shopping centre located on Falkirk High Street, next to the iconic Steeple. Free wheelchair hire is available at our Help Desk where you will also find a hearing loop. The Help Desk is located next to Costa Coffee and manned from 11am-2pm with a help phone available when unmanned. The centre offers Sensory Shopping between 11am-5pm on the first Sunday of every month and Autism friendly guides are available to download on our website or collect at our Help Desk. Centre staff are trained in sighted guiding, basic sign language, Alzheimer's awareness and autism awareness training. Accessibility

As the shops are on street level, customers can access the Mall from either the High Street or Pleasance entrance where there is also a taxi drop off zone. If using our car park, access to the shops is via customer lifts.

All events are held on the Mall floor which is flat and accessible.

We are the first shopping centre in Scotland to receive the Autism Friendly Award.

Toilets

There are a number of disabled toilets located throughout the centre. There is only 1 toilet that requires a radar key, the rest are accessible at all times. They are wide enough for wheelchairs and scooters and all have hand rails and emergency cords.

Staff

Security and cleaning staff patrol the Mall at all times and a member of staff is based at our Help Desk. A phone is also available at the Help Desk for assistance and call buttons are available on car park pay stations. All staff are fully trained including first aid.
