Venue Description
The Fortune Theatre is part of the Ambassador Theatre Group and is home to the classic show The Woman in Black. Performances take place in the evenings Tuesday to Saturday, with matinees on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.Accessibility
The auditorium at the Fortune Theatre is small and intimate, and the sight lines are good from all levels. All the stairs have hand rails and there are bars and toilets on each level. There is step-free access to the foyer and Box Office. Stalls There are 21 steps down to the stalls. If you want to be close to the stage and amongst the action then booking a seat in the stalls is best for you. The stalls seats also have the best leg room. Dress Circle There are 7 steps up to the Dress Circle from the foyer. There is an alternative route with 5 steps and a Stannah platform lift for wheelchair users from our Crown Court entrance. If you would like seats with the fewest steps then booking towards the back of the dress circle is best. Box A is also accessible from the Crown Court entrance and has a flight of 5 steps to access it. Upper Circle The Upper Circle is 40 steps up from the foyer, with handrails either side. This section is steep and not recommended for those with limited mobility. Wheelchair accessibility There are two wheelchair positions in Row F of the Dress Circle. These can be accessed via our Crown Court entrance. There is a Stannah platform lift installed to climb a flight of 5 steps. The dimensions of the platform lift are 71cm wide x 85cm long, with a maximum total weight of 225kg (35 stone). Unfortunately we cannot accommodate mobility scooters or larger electric wheelchairs exceeding the size of the platform lift. We offer an At Seat Service for bar refreshments; you can order by scanning the QR code from our posters or by letting a member of staff know you’d require this service when you arrive. A member of staff will bring your order to your seat; payment is via a mobile card payment device. There is unfortunately no step free access to any of our bars.
