Venue Description

Edinburgh Printmakers is a creative centre for printmaking and the visual arts in the Fountainbridge area of Edinburgh. It has a large light-filled printmaking studio, two galleries, a shop selling original prints and handmade products, a venue for meetings, events and learning activities, a café, a courtyard, and community garden. The printmaking studio welcomes anyone interested in joining our courses or becoming a member. It was established in 1967 as the first open-access studio in the UK and is one of the largest in Europe. Set in Castle Mills, a beautiful heritage building that was formerly a rubber factory and brewery complex, Edinburgh Printmakers fosters a creative atmosphere for both the local community and visitors to enjoy.

Accessibility

We have step-free access to the entire building, including a lift and multiple disabled toilets. We use the WelcoMe App by Neatebox.The free WelcoMe app allows you to request visits to participating venues (including Edinburgh Printmakers), indicating the areas you need customer service to have awareness of and the specific assistance you require. We are notified of your visit request and receive an overview of your condition and top tips to aid our interaction with you. Assistance dogs are welcome. We have sensory maps available at the entrance for those who need them. We are happy to provide free short descriptive tours of our gallery spaces for people with visual impairments. Our exhibition leaflets are available in large font. There is lift access to our cafe with table service available. No tables or chairs are permanently fixed, and menus are clearly written. We can provide additional support if needed.

Toilets

Edinburgh Printmakers is wheelchair accessible and has disabled toilets throughout the building. There are grab rails and alarm cords in each of these, with multiple bathrooms in the building also with showers.
