Venue Description
The venue is the Ukrainian Community Centre, 14 Royal Terrace, Edinburgh EH7 5AB. This is used by both Edinburgh Folk Club (EFC) for its weekly Wednesday gigs (September to June (inc)) and also by Acoustic Music Centre (AMC). AMC runs only during the annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August (AMC is Fringe venue #138) . I am both Chair of EFC and Programme Director at AMC.
Accessibility
UCC is easily accessed from the street. There is a portable ramp to help wheelchairs negotiate three steps up to the 'runway' leading to the main door and one step up into the building through double doors easily wide enough for a wheelchair. Once in the building the room used as the EFC and AMC venue is on the ground level and a flat run in from the street door. There is a disabled toilet on this level. There is a basement bar but unfortunately this is not wheelchair accessible because the building does not have a lift and access is only by steps down to the basement. The upper levels of the building are not used by either EFC and AMC except as dressing rooms for performers. There is no in-built hearing loop although there is internet access through free WiFi.
Toilets
The ground floor accessible toilet has a wide enough door for wheelchairs. The room has grab rails.
