Venue Description

The Duke of York's is a beautiful theatre in the heart of London's west end, dating back to 1892 it was the home to David Belasco's Madame Butterfly, which was seen by Puccini, who later turned it into what is probably his most famous opera; to today's productions of, The Glass Menagerie, The Dresser and many many more.

Accessibility

The Duke of Yorks Theatre, located on St. Martins Lane is within close proximity to Leicester Square, Charing Cross and Trafalgar square. Charing Cross being the most accessible station. The first thing you need to know is that we are level access with the street, with direct access to the foyer bar, box office, and our access toilet. There is no lift in the building. We have 24 steps up, to our upper circle, and the same down to the stalls. We have two wheelchair spaces located in the Royal Circle, both in Row C. The view from these positions will always be restricted unfortunately, due to the curve of the auditorium. We can accommodate wheelchairs of 85.5cm / 33 ¾ inches wide and 91cm / 35 ¾ inches wide. As a recommendation, the view from C2 is slightly better. The wheelchair transfer seats are in the Royal Circle Row D. Please be advised there are arm rests, and at least a few steps to get into the seat. The Royal circle is the perfect location for any mobility requirements. Front stalls is ideal for any visual impairments and our friendly team are always on hand to offer advice. The theatre has the Sennheiser MobileConnect system which works on all levels, and Ipods can be borrowed from our cloakroom, with our FOH staff on hand for any questions.
