Venue Description

Drake Music Scotland creates music-making opportunities for people with disabilities of all ages around Scotland. We run MusicSPACE, a programme of one to one music tuition and group tuition at our base in Craigmillar, south east Edinburgh We operate a fully accessible recording studio and have a variety of accessible technologies enabling people with limited movement to play music and use Figurenotes music notation to teach anyone how to read music.

Accessibility

The building is run by Castlerock Edinvar and there are several organisations based there including Drake Music Scotland. Arrive via car park at front of building. Steps and ramp to main entrance. Buzzer to right of entrance, reception then activate automatic doors. Visitors are required to sign in. Reception alert Drake Music Scotland staff who meet visitors and take them to our ground-floor premises to left of reception. Remainder of doors are not automaic. Fire Exit is by means of sloping floor to rear - this is Drake Music Scotland's main Fire Exit.

Toilets

Toilet with wet-floor shower room available on first floor accessible by a lift. All accessible toilets have lever taps and grab rails.

Staff

Reception staff are helpful and friendly. Drake Music Scotland staff have had disability awareness and BSL sign language training (although not fluent) which is regularly updated
