Venue Description

Clapham Leisure Centre is a leisure centre just of Clapham High Street. Facilities include multi-level gym, main pool and teaching pool, four court sports hall, and three exercise studios.

Activities such as gym, fitness classes, swimming, and court bookings as well as Toddler’s World sessions are available on a casual basis to both members and non-members. Children and adults are also able to book onto our Lessons and Courses which include Swimming, Gymnastics, Tennis, and Football. There are also specific sessions for those older than 55, disabled individuals, and females. We also work with a range of partners to deliver additional sports and activities such as volleyball, netball, cricket, and basketball.

Accessibility

The surrounding streets have dropped curbs. The main entrance is on street level and has double, automatic doors. The interior of the building has wide walkways, clear of obstacles. A lift is available to customers.

Toilets

Our accessible toilets and changing rooms are wide enough for wheelchairs, have handrails at the correct height, low level utilities, and emergency cords.

Staff

All Better staff undergo safeguarding training and where possible, disability equality and awareness training. Many of our Fitness Instructors have undertaken additional courses and modules to further their knowledge and understanding specific to disability. Across Lambeth, swim teachers undertook a CPD course in Autism Awareness and teachers can gain more experience coaching disabled persons at our inclusive supported swimming sessions
